Chris Hurst, born in 1941, lived in Reepham from 1955 and used the train to travel to school in Norwich. His interview contains clear memories of a well-kept Whitwell & Reepham Station, as well as of City Station and its post-war appearance.
The image of Whitwell visible at the top of this page was painted by Chris from the vantage point of Marriott's Way, while the station itself was in disrepair.
Whitwell Station, now restored and running steam once more, is recalled as a busy and well-staffed stop: Whitwell Station
Have you ever kept time by the noise of a train? Chris describes the sights, smells and sounds of the line, as well as getting to know when to set off for the station by the whistle of his incoming ride: Memories of the line
